Trajadura
The Trajadura grape originates from the Minho region but, unlike other Vinho Verde varieties, it stands out for its moderate acidity and relatively high alcohol levels for the region. It is a late-ripening variety with a very long growing cycle, featuring early budburst and late maturation. It produces medium-sized, compact clusters composed of green-yellow berries and delivers very high yields.
Trajadura offers subtle aromas of peach, apricot, apple, and ripe pear, accompanied by delicate notes of orange blossom. Thanks to its high alcohol potential and moderate acidity, it is often used in blends to soften the wines of the region. Blends with Alvarinho, Loureiro, or Arinto are especially popular, bringing balance and harmony to Vinho Verde wines.
This grape is valued for its ability to provide volume and roundness while maintaining a certain freshness, making it an ideal partner in white blends from northwest Portugal.
