Alicante Bouschet
Born from the crossing of the Petit Bouschet and Grenache grape varieties, when vinified, it stands out for its firmness, tannins, and intense color.
A foreign teinturier grape that is considered the most Portuguese of Portugal’s non-native varieties, it originates from France (Languedoc) and is capable of producing wines with deep, intense color. It is firmly rooted in the soils of Alentejo, where vines over 100 years old can still be found.
Increasingly used for red wines from the north to the south of Portugal, it works wonders in blends with other grape varieties, adding volume, structure, concentration, and excellent aging potential to the wines.
Food and wine pairings with Alicante: rich meats, roasts.
